Protest In front of Japanese Embassy on Independence Movement Day
Korea-Dokdo-Love members and Chairman Sunggon Oh
Korea-Dokdo-Love members protest against Japanese Colony at the Japanese Embassy in Seoul on March 1, 2017. Through this Independence Movement Day, Korean people finally achieved independence from Japanese colonization on August 15, 1945, its called Korean Independence Day (Gwangbokjeol).
On May 24, 1949, March 1st was designated a national holiday in South Korea. General Choe Hong-hui dedicated the first of the three patterns (삼일 틀 – Sam-il teul) trained by III degree black belts of taekwon-do to the Sam-il Movement.
Background of Independence Movement Day
The March 1st Movement, also known as Sam-il (3·1) Movement was one of the earliest public displays of Korean resistance during the ruling of Korea by Japan. The name refers to an event that occurred on March 1, 1919, hence the movement's name, literally meaning "Three-One Movement" or "March First Movement" in Korean. It is also sometimes referred to as the Man-se Demonstrations.
The Samil Movement came as a result of the repressive nature of colonial occupation under the military rule of the Japanese Empire following 1905. Adding to this was the death of former Emperor Gojong on January 21, 1919. There was widespread suspicion that he had been poisoned, credible since previous attempts (the "coffee plot") were well-known. See more photos:

Members of Korea-Dokdo-Love visited Dokdo Island on August 15, 2016. Korea Independent Day, Korean people achieved independence from Japanese colonization. Korea-Dokdo-Love members campaigned against Japanese at the Dokdo island. Because Japanese also claimed the island as their own territory. On that day, many visitors from mainland Korea travelled to Dokdo Island. You can take a ferry boat from Ulleungdo to Dokdo Island, and almost everyday it's available.

National Efforts to Protect Dokdo
At the end of the Second World War, the Allies decided to return Dokdo to its rightful owner, the Republic of Korea, although the island had been used by the U.S. Navy for artillery practice. Several fishermen from Ulleungdo who were fishing near the island were killed. Meanwhile, Japan lobbied the Allies aggressively during the San Francisco Peace Treaty talks, and succeeded in having the provision regarding Korea’s ownership of Dokdo removed from the final version of the treaty. This infuriated the Korean people and their government, leading President Syngman Rhee to establish the Peace Line in 1952 as a means of securing Korea’s sovereignty over Dokdo and its ownership of the marine resources in the areas.

The Dokdo Coast Guard Securing the Front lines of the Korean Territory
Founded in July 1954 as the successor to the Dokdo Volunteer Guards, the Dokdo Coast Guard has been committed to the protection of Dokdo its surrounding waters. The coast guard lost seven officers in the early stages of the construction of defense facilities on the island, as they faced harsh geographic and environmental conditions, but it has continued to increase its capabilities and improve related facilities, including its radar system. It has been through their commitment and incredible effort and self-sacrifice that Dokdo has remained a peaceful Korean Island.

Names of Dokdo in Korean History
The name “Dokdo” is partial transliteration of the island’s original name, Dokseom or Dolseom (both meaning “rocky island” in Korean) in Chinese characters. It has been known by several other names throughout Korean history, including Usando, Sambongdo, Gajido, and Seokdo. In Japan, Dokdo was called Matsushima (Pine Island) and Ulleungdo Takeshima (Bamboo Island) but the name was changed after 1905. Ever since, Dokdo has been called Takeshima. The island has also been known as Liancourt Rocks in France, Hornet Rocks in Britain, and Manelai-Olovutsa in Russia.

Residents of Dokdo
During the late 1940s, a group of “sea women” (haenyeo) arrived on the island and set up a temporary shelter, which they used while fishing in the area. These were “residents” of Dokdo. Later, in 1965, a fisherman named Choe Jong-deok obtained the exclusive rights to the fishing grounds of Dokdo and settled down on the island. When he had his Dokdo address officially designated in 1981, he became the first real resident of Dokdo, and lived there until his death in 1987. In 1991, another fisherman, Kim Seong-do, officially changed his address to Dokdo and, 16 years later, became the administrative head of the community of Dokdo-ri. He still lives on the island today.

In Korean, the first invasion (1592–1593) is called the "Japanese (倭 |wae|) Disturbance (亂 |ran|) of Imjin" (1592 being an imjin year in the sexagenary cycle). The second invasion (1597–1598) is called the "Second War of Jeong-yu" (丁酉). Collectively, the invasions are referred to as the Imjin War.
In Japanese, the war is called Bunroku no eki (文禄の役). Bunroku referring to the Japanese era under the Emperor Go-Yōzei, spanning the period from 1592 to 1596. The second invasion (1597–1598) is called "Keichō no eki" (慶長の役). During the Edo period (17–19th centuries), the war was also called "Kara iri" (唐入り "entry into China").
The total military and civilian casualties, as estimated by the late 19th-century historian, Geo H. Jones, were one million, and total combat casualties were estimated at between 250,000 and 300,000. A total of over 185,000 Korean, and an estimated 50,000 to 60,000 captives were taken by the Japanese throughout the war.

Members of Korea-Dokdo-Love led by Mr. Sunggon Oh have an overseas Public Relations tour to Vietnam from Dec 29, 2015 to Jan 4, 2016. This is their first ever an overseas PR trip. They were received by Tran Xuan Truc and Dinh Quang Tin, both a Headmaster and an English Teacher of Dieu Cai High School, warmly welcomed them. They expressed their willing to make a friendship with Korea-Dokdo-Love at their home town. To reach Dongnai town, it takes about 3 hours from Ho Chi Minh city by taxi. There are around 10 Korea-Dokdo-Love members, said Oh.
According to Mr. Oh, Dokdo Islets are part of Korean territory, however, it had been influenced by their neighbor countries Japan and China, just because they are bigger power than Korea. According to Suh Hansool, despite there are substantially lots of historic and documentary records which say the islet Dokdo belongs to the territory of Korea, the people in the Japanese side advocate the islet Dokdo is theirs, giving it a try to leave their partial and indiscriminating notes no matter where they are in the globe.
Japanese military forces occupied Korea, China including Taiwan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Singapore Philippines and all that before the World War II ended in 1945. Nevertheless, they say they tried only to help all those good-will nations prosper in economic and technological categories, and they say they never tried to invade any parts of the world, being all smiles on face.

The Message from the Chairman of Korea-Dokdo-Love
Mr. Oh Sunggon
My beloved fellow countrymen, how has the world been treating you pioneering your living sites with frontier spirit and burning passion for enhancing national prestige? The islet Dokdo has been clearly proved to be the territory of Korea in historic and documentary records in the year of BC 512, the Dynasty of Shilla, the Dynasty of Corea, the Dynasty of Yi, and in the contemporary documents.
Yet, it is true that global villagers don’t have tendency to trust the islet Dokdo is a part of Korean territory in the global societies due to strong international instigation of Japan’s influence.
Why don’t we all brethren of North and South Korean people get together and get united in order to that we may safeguard the nation’s least islets Dokdo where our ancestors’ soul has been obviously surviving immortal through whole means of truthful information in the whole habitual globe?

The Message from the Overseas PR Manager of Korea-Dokdo-Love
Mr. Suh Hansool
Hi, everyone! I’m Suh Hansool, the Overseas PR Manager in the club of Korea-Dokdo-Love. How are things going with you in the meanwhile? Today I’m so honored to have such an opportunity for leaving few lines of message on the national holiday of Independence Movement Day, the first of March.
Despite there are substantially lots of historic and documentary records which say the islet Dokdo belongs to the territory of Korea, the people in the Japanese side advocate the islet Dokdo is theirs, giving it a try to leave their partial and indiscriminating notes no matter where they are in the globe.
Now that all global friends are well aware of the fact that almost all Japanese friends practically do have dual personality, the whole citizens not only in the Oriental community but even in the whole Occidental community do not intend to rely on them no matter what they say. As an old saying says, "Once bit, twice shy,” why don’t we keep away from them, signing up for boycott campaign against buying Japanese goods from now forward throughout the world. Thank you very much.

Professor Chun Eunkyung
I’m one of the professors in the Digital Seoul Culture & Art University, a cyber university located here in Korea.
My country besieged by the sea of three different directions from east, west, and south is a small nation lately getting well-known as Korea-waves named Hallieu throughout the world. I do love the islet Dokdo a lot which presently is the territory of our and it used to be the one of ours historically as well. Dokdo is a beautiful islet which looks floating in the sea. One of my British friends has been to both islands Woolrengdo located next to Dokdo and islet Dokdo. However she expressed her honest views that both islets are the most fantastic among the ones she’s ever seen in her life.
My fellow global friends, my neighbouring country Japan is insisting this islet Dokdo is the territory of theirs. Besides, they say the sea Donghae located in the east side of Korea is the Sea of Japan and make Korean citizens stunned. Needless to say, such a rude manner and intention is against international courtesy and precedent.
I personally expect your deep concern because it will be able to shoot the trouble.

The Brief History of Dokdo
We desire to get along with you for the purpose having right recognition about our territory Dokdo located near by the island Woolreungdo.
The island Dokdo has been proved to be our Korean territory on the historic records and official documents through the dynasties of the Shilla B.C 512, Goryeo and Choseon and Contemporary times.
Due to Japanese intentional agitation and behavior the possession right on the island Dokdo is being misunderstands as if it belongs to Japan in the international society. Therefore we like to ask you to cooperate together with us to get rid of such unrighteous intention.
On the other hand, the islet Dokdo is located nearby as it looks like a mountain near Woolrengdo. Geographically, the Dokdo islets are 87.4 km from South Korean’s Woolrengdo Island and 157.5 km from Japanese’s Okikundo Island.
